Context and challenges

Supply chain teams are currently focused on the flow of components between suppliers and customers, transport and logistics platforms.

However, the organisation of internal flows within factories is a major challenge if operating costs are to be optimised and tight lead times ensured for availability and dispatch.

Conceptualised and implemented by the pioneers of the automotive industry, there is now a wide variety of methods for preparing and routing components to production lines or workstations.

Picking, kits, production orders, kanbans, intermediate stocks, synchronous or asynchronous flows, each industrial workshop must implement and combine these concepts to reduce non-value-added tasks and work-in-process levels while guaranteeing maximum productivity at the workstations.
