Reduce non-value-added tasks and work-in-progress levels while guaranteeing maximum productivity at workstations.

Context and challenges

Supply chain teams are currently focused on the flow of components between suppliers and customers, transport and logistics platforms.

However, the organisation of internal flows within factories is a major challenge if operating costs are to be optimised and tight lead times ensured for availability and dispatch.

Conceptualised and implemented by the pioneers of the automotive industry, there is now a wide variety of methods for preparing and routing components to production lines or workstations.

Picking, kits, production orders, kanbans, intermediate stocks, synchronous or asynchronous flows, each industrial workshop must implement and combine these concepts to reduce non-value-added tasks and work-in-process levels while guaranteeing maximum productivity at the workstations.

The Axsant approach

Axsant’s approach is characterised by :

  • Diagnosis of current internal flows from warehouse preparation to dispatch, with a pragmatic vision adapted to the specific characteristics of products and the production rate in workshops.
  • Mapping the internal value chain (VSM) with relevant measurements of disruptions, lead times and stock coverage.
  • Collaborative development of a relevant internal preparation and routing system to meet the challenges of the workshops and the Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives.
  • Assisting with the appropriate setup of of all ERP views and parameters, enabling optimum management of internal flows.
  • Steering the transformation and implementation plan.
